I was given an iPhone 3GS as my work phone. Some features I like, others I loathe. Voice dial, for example, insists on its pronunciation rather than mine, or even the correct one. For example, my colleague Nigel Yeates is known to it as "Nijjil Yeets". And don't even think about trying Maori placenames, even though their spelling is strictly phonetic. When did it get to be a "feature" that the user can't apply her/his own voicetags?

The sensitivity of the GSM phone receiver seems considerably less than that of my previous Motorola SILVR -- I find many more dead areas than I used to.

But Skype on a mobile phone is great to have if I'm in a Wifi zone. Pity it won't work in most hotels, which only offer wired broadband to the room, so I'll still have to take my laptop when travelling internationally.

Well I'm in a remote part of Devon currently which doesn't even have Edge so can't really comment on 3G download speeds (although Safari is blazing fast on wireless as it can render the pages quicker than the iPhone 3G could). However, I understand that O2 have rolled out 7.2Mbps HDSPA across London and it'll be rolled out further afield soon. I'll be in London next week so I'll load up a few test pages to see how it goes :)

Nice review! Specially about the screen brightness.

Have you noticed any improvement on the internet connection? Has o2 bumped up the good old 3G to a fast 7.2 hdspa?

Cheers
