There are third party programs that allow for "center-click" and 3-4 finger swiping as well as many of the other missing touch features.

one is called magicprefs. I am using it now and it has worked great so far.

This mouse failed me badly, it doesn't work well with graphic programs, unless you are willing to turn of the scroll functionalities, each is what supposedly makes this mouse cool. Another problem, it is too sensitive, it changes the pages, it changed the page when I started writing this review... I had to start all over, it changes the page by accident when you are watching youtube videos... same thing... you have to start all over. In my opinion this mouse is a disaster!

@Jason - well a mouse is a mouse really so there is no real advantage over a "conventional tool" but then there isn't much you can add really. As I said, the multitouch will be impressive once they unlock it a bit more but for now a £25 bluetooth logitech mouse is probably as good unless you are interested in aesthetics like I am.

@Richard - I had the same problem with getting a £600 mac one (although the colour quality on them is amazing). I ended up buying a BenQ G2410HD which is pretty good. If I was buying now though I'd go for something like the LG W2243S which is only £114.97 for 22" 1080p HD monitor. Not bad! I'm planning on getting a 27" iMac in the future though and I can then plug MacBook into that if I want a second screen.

Thanks for the review. I have ordered one despite the lack of multi touch.

What external monitor have you got with your Mac. I want to get one for my Macbook but don't want to pay £600 for the Mac one.

What is the main purpose of using this mouse over conventional tool?

Very thorough review, so well done on that.

I also think that Apple try really hard to rip people off on the peripherals, which is yet another reason I don't like the brand.

An interesting review. As mice go it certainly looks very stylish but unfortunately in my mind at least, it's a little redundant - effectively all that's happened with this mouse is removing the scroll ball (and incidentally, the middle click) and replacing it with finger drag detection. All for the low price of £55.

I'll stick to my 3 year old three button Intellimouse :-)
